Battlefield 1 is a first-person shooter set during World War I. This war is often overlooked when it games to shooting games and Battlefield 1 allows you to experience real-world battles that occurred then along with realistic weaponry for the time. It also has shockingly realistic graphics that put you right in the middle of the action.

Realistic Weapons

Many people overlook WWI because the weapons weren't quite as advanced as in WWII. While there were more tanks and advanced planes, WWI had its share of modern weaponry. Not only that, but Battlefield 1 went all in and gives you dozens and dozens of different guns to choose from.

There are nearly two dozen handguns and revolvers to use, numerous rifles and shotguns and many automatic weapons. You'll have no shortage of options and you can easily customize your experience.

Superb Graphics

Battlefield 1 has fantastic and immersive graphics. You'll feel like you're right there and fighting against the enemy. All the equipment, environments and people look great. Perhaps the only time they falter is with some expressions. Some human characters may have odd-looking expressions, but this only happens every now and then.

Where this game really excels graphically is with effects and explosions. Everything from the sounds, lights and fire make it look like a grenade went off right in front of you. If you want a realistic war game, then Battlefield 1 delivers.

Different Scenarios

In order to help you experience everything that WWI has to offer, this game has many different scenarios that you can play through. Most of them are on land and fighting either one-on-one or as an infantry unit, but you'll also fly a plane, hover in a balloon and so much more. This gives you many other ways to experience the game.

Dramatic Story

War is always a dramatic story, but the story here puts the drama front and center for your playable character. You'll feel the excitement of war, the sting of defeat and the whole time you'll be engrossed with this game. While the story isn't unique, it's certainly strong and will keep you going further into the game.

Too Much Downloadable Content

One common criticism for this game is the reliance on downloadable content, or DLC. Unlike some games that give you large campaigns and massive upgrades when you buy the DLC, this one just adds fairly small updates and changes. It feels like they made a full game, locked away parts of it and wanted you to pay for full access.

The default game is good and gets better with the DLC, but it's debatable if the DLC is really worth the extra money.
